My commute to work is minimal to say the least. It takes me around 12 minutes to get from door to door. And although I’m not going to sit here and formally complain about my lack of car time in the morning, I will say I find myself sitting in the car even after I’ve parked to hear the end of one of NPR’s morning edition stories.
Over the past few months there have been a few stories that have stuck with me longer than just the few minutes in the morning. For example, The Color of Money is an awesome segm
ent they have featuring Michelle Singletary. Below are a few of my favorite stories from Michelle. They can all be found on NPR.org – or just click on one of the stories below. The last one, and most relevant in my book, is not from Michelle, but none the less very good. If you only have time for two (2-5 min in length on average) I would go for “Your Financial Life after College” and “Economic Anxiety Rises for the Middle Class.”

Warning – she’s a little excessive, but I love her thoughts on “saving a little now puts more in my pocket later.” Being thrifty is not about denying yourself the things you want, but rather denying yourself the things you didn’t need in the first place and didn’t know you didn’t need until you chose not to buy it
