A final nod to dinners at home. Below is a link to another enlightening NPR broadcast on the value of eating dinner as a family.
For awhile now I have been toying with the idea of starting a nonprof that focused on educating families on the importance of sitting down as a family over dinner and then supplying them with dinner to do so. Of course not all families have the time, with more double income parents than ever, most kids are finding dinner on their own and are often times make poor dietary choices along the way.
We all know that lack of time as a family crosses all income levels, but for those on the lower end there is often no choice. Either financially making a dinner worthy of sitting down to is not possible, or time wise their night jobs aren’t allowing them to be home to make it, in the end dinner time is not being had. One day, I would love to provide families with both the nutritious dinner and the encouragement to take 30 minutes with their kiddos at least one night a week. More to come on that dream later.
Sidetracked… Listen to this article below when you have a second, I found it very interesting.

Corie–I am totally going to make this. And I love that you guys are getting started on the thrifty living early. It’ll make those years when you buy approximately 2.5 stuffed animals a day so much easier (although I guess a really thrifty person would make the stuffies instead of buying them–hmmm).
Looking forward to seeing you soon!
