Starting the Kitchen Remodel

I started researching the cost of counter tops last week. I looked into CeasarStone, granite, soapstone, and stained concrete. Wasn’t a fan of the CeasarStone, granite looked too contrived for our house, soapstone was absolutely beautiful but a little too pricey, stained concrete was just something I saw in a house in Houston and fell in love with and I ended up getting it at a great price because one of the concrete guys told me I could get 30% off my order if I piggy backed on another residential order. The only catch was that I had to give him my commitment that evening.

I wasn’t necessarily ready to give my response so quickly without following through on my research, but it seemed like such a good deal, so I committed that evening. What I didn’t know is he needed a ton of things to get started, such as the new sink. Since I didn’t think I was going to be doing the counter tops for another month or so, I didn’t have anything in line. I scrambled to find a sink, but no one in Austin would sell me a cast iron, under mount sink without having to special order it.

I resigned to the fact that I would have to give up my good deal, but thankfully there was a couple in the Woodlands, TX who was selling a Kohler cast-iron, double mount sink! I called them up and arranged to drive down there on Saturday.

I purchased the sink for $100 – retails for over $450! It was the perfect deal – I got to take advantage of the deal on counter tops and I didn’t have to pay full price for the sink I wanted. Take a look at it before it goes in.

Only down side is I have to special order all the random sink parts that didn’t come with the sink that would have come with… er. Austinites – I got to Crumps or Joscos for random parts like these. They tend to have them in stock!
